About the Indian Ocean Island Games
The Indian Ocean Island Games (French Jeux des îles de l’océan India) are a multi-sport event of islands in the southwest of the Indian Ocean. They currently take place every four years, with Mauritius, the Seychelles, Comoros, Madagascar, Mayotte, Réunion and the Maldives as participating countries.
In the 2015 Games, there were two cases of scandal, some participants and Comorian officials were unable to obtain visas from the French authorities in time, and officials took away the national flag of a Malagasy sportswoman at a prize-giving ceremony. Both the Comoros and Madagascar withdrew their teams during the tournament.
